I have the opportunity to get 2 LED Cinema displays. I know I can plug one into the thunderbolt port but is there a mini dp to hdmi adapter so I can use the other one?

HDMI only has a max of 1920x1200. So even if you could plug the ACD into the HDMI port, it would not run at the native resolution.

Thats unfortunate looks like I am going to have to sell these. Can the 2011 mini support 2 27 inch thunderbolt displays?

Two Thunderbolt displays would work, but you could also sell one of the Cinema displays and buy one Thunderbolt display.

Then you can plug the TB display into the Mini and plug the Cinema display into the Thunderbolt daisy chain port on the back of the TB display.

Only if you buy the mid level mini with the AMD GPU. The base and server can not.

That will not work. Each thunderbolt device can run one display, and in the case of the thunderbolt display that would be the build in one. In order to use a non thunderbolt display as well you need an additional thunderbolt device to sit between the two displays in the chain. There are various posts about this in the peripherals forum.

Yep, you're completely right. That's definitely a strange quirk of Thunderbolt.

Going that route (and getting a cheap Thunderbolt peripheral, like the Seagate Goflex) might still be cheaper than selling both cinema displays and buying two TB displays.
