I know there are subtle differences but the biggest thing is the GPU, but just how big is the diff between 512 and 1GB

Also when you run in windows, doesn't Windows supply the GPU with Virtual memory, so it would appear you are running more than 512 or 1GB?

I know it does on my older uMB 2.4/4GB/500GBHybrid, in Windows Vista it showed 512MB

For the GPU memory, it depends on what you are using the computer for.

Virtual GPU memory doesn't sound like something that exists - at least for Windows and Macs. What you do have is the fact that integrated graphics use system memory and you can adjust how much memory it is using. Of course that memory is no longer available for application use.

Beyond the obvious clock speed difference, 2.2 vs. 2.3, the 2.3GHz i7 has 8MB cache vs. 6MB in the 2.2.

It’s all just small incremental differences, that can add up depending on your use.

What are the two GPU models? I was looking at an older MBP15 and the 2 GHz had much lower performance 6940, but I thought the 2.2 and 2.3 both had the 6750.

My early/mid MBP15 has the 2.3 CPU and a 1GB 6750. It’s pretty awesome. :D

I think the “virtual” RAM for the GPU is a consideration for integrated graphics vs. discreet[?]
