Don't you think that this analogy is a little bit ridiculous? If you are going to make such comparisons, at least use something that does not imply coercion and is perceived to have value by both the developer and the purchaser, like say a gated community?

BTW - I'm sure many of you have seen the rumors that Honeycomb will require dual-core cpus. Wonder how the early adopters would feel about that?

+1 The prison analogy doesn't hold up because we're free to stop using iOS devices or switch to other devices any time we want. It'd be a prison only if Apple were forcing us to use iOS against our will.
 
I agree with the posters above, that analogy kinda stinks, Piggie.

It's a cell phone for pete's sake, not your entire life's existence. Or is it?
 
I think this will play out like the iPod did. The iPad has a reputation and is easy to use without contracts. Others will offer better specs at lower prices but the streamlined iPad experience is tough to beat. I just wish they added a wireless common file dropbox, less reliance on iTunes for file management.
