I have a 3 day old 13" Macbok Pro 2.9 GHz Ci7 model... I am finding the batter lasted about 2.5-3 hours tops... thats without using the optical drive and screen brightness around 80% and with WiFi on.

Is this supposed to be a 7 Hr battery? If so, shouldn't I at least get half that reliably?

It is because of your 80% screen brightness. Running it at that high kinda hurts my eyes.

Are you sure it would be screen brightness? When I use my school's MBP (2011) on 100% screen brightness it says around 6 hours on a full battery.

There's not enough information to comment on your battery life. If you're watching a Youtube video battery life will decrease dramatically. Or perhaps there's some other background process running that isn't immediately apparent.

Apple claims 7 hours of battery life with 50% screen brightness and 'normal web browsing'. I've not gotten that, as I normally like my brightness a little bit more. I have gotten about six hours.
