    The full specs for the rMBP are 2.6ghz i7 / 8GB ram / 512gb sad / gt 650m

    iMac 3.2GHz i5 / 8GB ram / 1TB hdd / Gt 755m

I like the size of the iMac but I know i'd lose a little bit of speed. I'm debating on selling my mbp and getting this iMac. I need suggestions.

I'd keep the rMBP, because the quad-core i7 in the rMBP can hyper thread. Quad core i5s cannot hyper thread.

    In Geekbench scores, both the 2.6GHz i7-3720QM (mid-2012 15" rMBP) and 3.2GHz i5-4570 (late-2013 27" iMac) perform almost identically.

If you go for the iMac, you're not losing just a little bit of speed, you're losing one hell of a lot of speed because you're downgrading from an SSD to a HDD.

Keep the rMBP and buy an external display instead.

The GPU is the only true increase in performance (as well as it having double the VRAM).

You might want to consider upgrading the HDD to Flash Storage as you're so used to the current speed :p

I was on the same boat as you but I've decided to cancel the iMac 27" refurbished order and just keep my MacBook Pro 15" Retina :)
