I am thinking this should vault Oregon over ND for second place in at least two of the rankings.

Even though ND scored 2 TD's, I think this beat down was worse than the one Alabama gave to LSU last year...

(So glad I didn't go out to watch the game, would've been a waste.)

I say Oregon gets at least a 3rd. I'm not sure where Ohio St. would be placed given their sanctions.

Wow. I thought that Bama would give ND a good run, but didn't expect a blowout. I was also shocked after the game when Barrett Jones said that he was playing with a Lisfranc injury to his foot - that's very serious. I hope he recovers and can play in the NFL.

Shoulda woulda coulda. C-USA still has a better bowl win % than you.

A&M finished 1-0 in bowls and ranked 5th in the final polls.

That's really all I care about, but if you think winning the Beef O'Brady, Hawaii, Armed Forces and Liberty Bowls trumps winning the BCS, Capital One, Cotton, Outback, Compass and Music City Bowls, you're nuts. The only ones that are comparable are the last two, and we all know that Ole Miss and Vandy would've gone undefeated in C-USA.

I really wish the game was closer, would've made all the trash talking more fun or at least somewhat plausible...

"Alabama's offense has never seen a defense like Notre Dame"

"Barrett Jones has never faced a NT like Louis Nix before".

"Lacy and Yeldon won't score on Notre Dame's top ranked red zone defense".

After last night, I think we could reverse all those arguments :D

Someone really said this?!?

Yes they did........ If you watch the pregame stuff there was all types of this type of talk.

I loved seeing the older gentleman on ESPN (forgot his name) the look on his face after the first half was priceless. He was pulling for ND and well, he pretty much looked like the coach of ND after the first half. Completely lost.

When they talked all that junk, I didn't really get it. I'll admit, I don't really follow ND the way I do with other teams so maybe I missed something - they're seeing something on tape that perhaps I missed. At the very least, perhaps ND were equal but not as great as everyone made them out to be.

To even say something like that against a tried and tested Alabama team who's been there twice and won it in the way they did in 3 years? I thought it was laughable. LOL

If nothing else, last night's game should cement the notion that if you don't play a legitimate schedule, you shouldn't be in the talk for the national championship. The Big 12 needs to move back up to 12+ and add the conference championship game, and Notre Dame needs to join a conference. Playing the sisters of the poor or not playing that 13th game should disqualify you from admission to the playoff starting in 2014.

yes,,,, him lol

Well he was coach of ND for 10 years and won a NC with them in 88 i think.

ND schedule is as legitimate as there have been, they didn't play a FCS (I-AA) team.

USC, Oklahoma and Stanford are sisters of the poor? right...

ND did everything right to get to the NC game, some teams play better with 5 weeks off (specially Nick Saban teams), some don't, and brian kelly's team haven't done that well in bowls.

The playoffs and the selection committee are coming anyways, everyone will have to step up their schedule if they want to be in it. but ND with this schedule would still be in the playoffs.

Sorry not Lou, I know him, Lee Corso.... He came out before the game wearing green and dancing with the ND Cheerleaders.

His face at halftime was freaking priceless.

They didn't play a I-AA team, true, but they did play a boatload of crappy teams and they didn't play a conference championship game, either.

They played two good teams: Stanford and OU. Only one of those (Stanford) was a top team. OU was a pretender, USC and Michigan State were bad teams, Michigan hadn't yet realized that Denard Robinson was a WR playing QB. To top it off, the refs gave ND their wins against Stanford and against a terrible Pitt team.

So no, it wasn't all that legitimate, and won't be until they join a conference.

By your account the same can be said of everyones schedule.

Who did Alabama beat? LSU and Georgia are the only good teams there, one lost to Clemson and the other had trouble with Nebraska... by your measure LSU was a pretender since it lost to Clemson. Alabama also played a lot of crappy teams.

I didn't see him at halftime, but he looked pretty weird in his appearance before the game. It's funny that this game will probably be remembered more for things like the AJ/Barrett flareup and Brent Musburger's comments about AJ's girlfriend than about the way Alabama beat ND.

This whole transitive property of who is better than who really has to stop in college football (sports in general too I guess....but college football is really all I care about so I'm going to limit this to that). Just because A beat B and B beat C does not automatically mean A is better than C.

Anybody that was paying attention this year knew going into Monday night that Notre Dame was as mediocre as ever. They have, for the most part, mediocre players that get turned into giants by a MSM that loves the Notre Dame mystique. In the end Notre Dame played a great team that was playing with great focus and got exposed for they truly are......a middle of the pack team.

They'll fit right in over in the ACC.
