this 2012 thing i find really "not very important" if anything there will be a huge war or some international crisis but not the end of the world.

william yeats idea of the world reseting every 1000 or 2000 years or that the mayan's calender ending on 2012 doesnt mean anything for sure.

we'll just have to wait and see.

I couldn't believe what I just read...

I looked at the address expecting to see The Daily Onion, but it was a real news site.

Whoever let that one through should be fired, and whoever put it together should be arrested and criminally charged.

How could this be possible? There is no way that internet will be gone. We should warn people not to abuse the internet like hacking, watching porns and "x" videos or scamming other people. There are lots of them who are doing this right now, but I hope that their conscience will finally step up to let them change on the way they use the internet.

Option 1: Invest billions into infrastructure.

Option 2: Cap the feck out of all service plans.

Which sounds more likely?

Instead of running the internet on central servers why not take advantage of the billions of computers sitting idle each can cache little chunks of the internet and more companies can run there business websites in house.

Oh noes!

I'd better get downloading the Internet even faster so. Only have 3 years left. Let's see how it's going.. yesterday was at 0.0000001% downloaded, today it's.... 0.0000000001%. Eek! Can people PLEASE stop adding stuff to the internet until I'm done downloading it? Thanking yous..

:p

people are calling the article stupid but it does have some very very valid points.

Bandwidth demand is far out pacing increase in it. A lot of the infrastructure projects going on where years in the making. Some of them 5-6 years in the making. Back when it was no projected at all to be any where near what we used today nor the exponentiation growth going on.

Think back 5 years. No one would of though about entire TV shows being broad casted by the web in HD. look at netflex on demand view for TV. That is a huge amount of increased bandwithe considering that each show some oen watches is going to be 300-500 megs worth of data and that is guessing on the small side. Chances are it is closer to a 1 gig per 40 min show.

At the rate we are growing with fiber obits going in the ground it could easily be at 2012 that demand is greater than supply and supply will never catch up.

Lets take this example, look at big cities traffic problems with cars. Even with all the constuction project they always have ongoing it never can keep up with demand. Rush hours are getting worse and longer with more cars on the road. The extra highways and widening of the roads are just barely keeping up to following behind the increase traffic flow and it is getting worse.
