Hi guys, which do you think will process video and image files faster?

Late 2012, 27", 3.2 GHz i5 (Ivy Bridge, I guess), 16GB ram, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB

OR

Late 2013, 27", 3.2GHz i5 (Haswell, I guess), 16GB ram, NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M 1024 MB

One is newer, the other has more video memory. What do you think?

Thanks

Personally, I'd opt for the Haswell model, because its my understanding that Haswell is faster then Ivy Bridge and you also have a newer (and faster) GPU, though with a less vram.

What are you looking to do with the iMac, i.e., what tasks?

I need to process video (FCPX) and edit RAW photography (Lightroom). Intense use.

Obviously I also use it for web, e-mail, etc...

For Lightroom I think the faster processor will be better so for that I would say the 2013 model. However, it also depends on the speed of the storage. What internal storage is there in those two?

I have never worked with video so I do not know about that.

Both have the standard 1TB HDD, but I put all catalogues and raw files on external USB3 HDD.

I guess, all in all, both machines would be similar, right? Maybe 5-10% difference?

If you are buying second hand try and get one with a fusion drive or SSD it will make it a far more peasant experience to use.
