MP 1,1-5,1 2012 Mac Pro and OCLP 2.1.2 and MDM

I have a 2012 Mac Pro 5,1 64 Gigs RAM, dual 3.46 GHz, & Radeon RX580 GPU. I had Monterey installed and it was working fine. Then I decided to install OCLP 2.1.2 and Sonoma, then I got this screen/page saying my Mac Pro was owned by Texas State University asking to enroll, and I couldn't go any further. I reached out to their IT dept and they were willing to help but could not find my machine. They said that they no longer use that system and maybe my Mac Pro wasn't cleaned of that MDM.
I don't know what else to do as I can't find a way to remove this thing or bypass it. I reached out to the reseller of this Mac Pro which I bought on Ebay in 2021.
Can anyone think of anything to rid of this MDM? Or Bypass it?

Haven’t seen this before… long shot.. do you have serial number spoofing enabled in OC config?

I would wonder why you got a Remote Management notice when you tried to install Sonoma, but NOT when you first installed Monterey?
I believe that profile was loaded into firmware, which should mean that it can only be removed by the university IT.
If they no longer use that system, it is then likely that you have no easy solution.

Did you install Monterey, or did the eBay seller?
If YOU installed Monterey, did you format the drive at that time? Or, did you simply update the system, as it was when you first received it. (still curious why your didn't get the remote mangement notice then, too...)

The serial number is tied to the Apple School Manager / Apple Business Manager of the organization that owned the device previously.

The reason why you are seeing this message in Sonoma, is Apple changed the behavior.

Now if you start up the Mac without a network connection you will be OK, but after 8 hours will be prompted to enroll into the MDM (Mobile Device Management).


If the Texas State University no longer owns the device, they need to release it from their organization in Apple School Manager / Apple Business Manager.
