Hi there, my friend is selling his 2012 MacBook Pro 15" Core i7, 4gb ram, 500GB HDD for $550 CAD. It is not retina. Is this a good deal? I was thinking to upgrade the ram, ssd and battery afterwards. Thanks

If you bump ram to 16 GB, 500 GB SSD, and battery, you are looking at roughly 350 + tax for the parts.

I dont know - you are edging close to a $1000 after all is said and done. At that price you could get a late model MacBook with a retina screen and a comparable processor - maybe a better buy in the long haul.
