Hi all,

I have the 2012 retina macbook pro. Running 10.13.1. I recently got its battery replaced, and since then, it crashes when connected to an HDMI cable. The screen goes black, and for whatever reason, the keyboard light comes on.

The machine appears to run fine when nothing is connected. I have tried resetting the PRAM and SMC to no avail.

I have seen that at least two different posters have had similar problems. I am wondering if anyone has found a solution. Has anyone successfully fixed the problem by updating or reverting back to an older OS?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

13" or 15"?

If 15", try running an app which forces the discrete GPU on. I think Photo Booth does this. Could be a dodgy dGPU, hidden by the iGPU.

Why aren't you running the newest version of High Sierra?

15"

I forced the discrete GPU on in settings and tried booting up a game. Everything appears to be working fine.

I will probably update it soon, but I saw nothing in the changelog indicating this problem was addressed or acknowledged.
