2012 MBP, i7, hi-rez (not retina- 1680x1050 resolution.)

I had to replace my screen and now I cannot kick it up to 1680x1050. I thought the wrong clamshell was shipped, but after swapping out the first one shipped, I now think it is simply that it needs a new profile for it. But... how do I update the prodile for this screen (which is likely of a different maker than the original.)

Any suggestions?

Oh- and I have reset the SMC.

Anyone have ideas? I've swapped the displays (returned the original) and searched the net a lot and the only thing I can find is something about using a different profile. It didn't occur to me at the time that this may be a display from a different maker than my original.

It's not about the profile. Your replacement screen is not a high res panel.

What often happens is these vendors cross-reference part numbers. So, what they did was associate both high and low res screens and binned them together. Now, when someone orders a screen with either part number they could get either part. The only way to be absolutely sure you're getting the high-res screen is to get the anti-glare one as that was only available in high-res, or buy from a vendor with excellent reviews.

That thought did occur to me, but this was the second, and the vendor was adamant it was 661-6505 both times.

I have another post about a power problem with the laptop and I am under 1% power, so I also need that fixed as well so I can boot it to see that, Nallux.
