adam9c1 macrumors 68000 Original poster Jul 13, 2017 #1 I have seen instances where mid 2012 MBP 13" would show 512, 1gb or 1.5 video ram. Sometimes machine with less ram would show more video memory. Machines run same OS. Are some computers different? Has video ram size changed over time?

New_Mac_Smell macrumors 68000 Jul 13, 2017 #2 It uses some of the physical RAM to boost the vRAM of the iGPU. So a machine with more RAM will have a higher vRAM allocation for the iGPU. I believe there's also some terminal commands to force things.
