2012 MBPr with 512Gb HD or Current MBPr with 256GB?

I am making a purchase today. Condensing my black box windows PC + Macbook Air to a 15" MPBr.

Amazon has the older MPBr with 512GB HD for 2299 and the current with 256Gb HD for $2079. Which one would you go with? I have a few 3.0 USB 1TB laptop drives, but don't know which one I should get.

I am guessing the new revision has fixed the issues from the first run? The older MPBr should be have been manufactured in late 2012.

What do you think? Need to order in a few hours.
 
I am kind of worried about refurbs, especially of the first run machines where there seems to be some known issues.
 
Apple is known for its quality refurbs. They seem to have a lower rate of issues than new models at times. I wouldn't worry.

That said, if this is going to be your only machine (and especially if you plan to Boot Camp) I'd go for the bigger SSD.

No boot camp, the only heavy stuff I will use it for is Adobe Premiere. Not daily but about 2-3 hours of video per week.

I wouldn't be. The "issues" were overblown and Apple puts out top notch refurbs which are under the same warrantee as new ones. It seems like a no brainer to me. Remember, people come to a forum to express issues, not often to praise working hardware.
 
Hmm. It is hard to turn down the extra 256GB of storage for $200 more. But it seems to make more sense to get the later revision for $2079 and keep a 1tB USB3 HD with me.

i'd cough up the $2,399.99 and get the 2.6/512/16 from macmall

If you do that on MacBook Air, go to Activity Monitor while you are editing, and check for your RAM usage. Add up Wired+Active, and look at Page outs. That should give you a good indication.
 
Bit on the $2299 Old model with 512GB. I guess I am rolling the dice by Amazon has a great return policy.
