Some advice would be great

currently using my daughters 21.5 2.9 8gb 1tbssd (seems slow might clean install) Primary use is Lightroom for uni.

I have small budget to possibly buy something. (1000aud)

cant see much around I can afford,
Benchmarks aren’t much improved from my daughters.

could look at
2014 Mac mini line
2013 27” iMac line
2015 15” MBP

would any of these be much of an upgrade?
Starting to think of saving cash and just using daughters.

There should be no reason the 2013 iMac (with an SSD) should seem any slower than a 2015 MBP. The actual geekbench scores are somewhat lower, but that shouldn't be noticable much in everyday use.

To get a truly noticable upgrade, I'd go with a refurbished 2017 iMac, then add an SSD and more ram after purchase. That's what I did, and the thing is able to handle everything I throw at it.

There is a 21.5 2017 in my price, it only has 8gb ram, Geekbench show around 4400.
The iMac I’m on Geekbench 3600

would I see much real world performance
If you swap the worthless fusion drive with an samsung 860
evo ... then yes, you’ll notice a wonderful difference
