I ran hardware test and memtest non stop on the Vengeance and returned no issues whatsoever. Felt confident that all is ok then the sudden crash couple of hours into playing Sim City.

I think people here with iMacs loaded with 32gb 1.5v ram will need to run their iMac for a few hours at least to see it happen.

Thing is, i'm on 1.35v now and it still crashes and I have seen others who have 1.35v and crashes on the new 2013 imac and they are still on 10.8.5

Well something not right.. have you checked whether it's a bad stick?
What brand is your Ram jordanm?

If it happens to a lot of users then Apple will need to address this..

I ordered 32Gb from Crucial's website. I just bought what the site suggested for a 2013 27"imac. Yup, and I'm getting the random kernel panic shutdowns with 4 sticks installed. Next time I get one, I'll take the 4th stick out and just run it with 24Gb till some solution is apparent

Care to share the RAM model/part number ?

Hey Guys,

it's Crucial RAM (DDR3 1600mhz CL11 1.35v - 4 x 8GB SODIMM's)

Part Number is CT4951620 and their internal systems reference/material no. is CT2C8G3S160BMCEU.M16FDD

I confirmed that the details are correct on the sticks, packaging and order info.

Really bizarre - I ran memtests twice and apple diagnostics - nothing came up :-/

ClivePwned, kind of re-assuring that others see it and I am not going crazy!
Can I ask, do you use any of the following:

- Adobe Products (Creative Cloud, Photoshop, Illustrator Etc)
- Wacom Graphics Tablet
- Plugged any USB devices into the machine (if so, which brands)
- Connected to any Wireless Devices
- Did you get the Magic Trackpad with your machine or the magic mouse?

Also, did you do a clean install of mavericks?

I've decided to try only 2 sticks of Corsair Vengeance (16gb) and see how this goes, as really would like to find out if it's crashing not only because of the ram but simply because it's maxed out. As i'm seeing posts with maxed out 32gb users on both 1.35v and 1.5v and getting crashes.

Jordanm, if this helps - yesterday running with the original ram (2x4gb) i can confirm no issues at all with mine running Wacom tablet, wired keyboard, external USB drive, magic mouse, sim city game in the background and a 2nd monitor with dell.

my imac is a BTO 3.5 GHz with the 4gig 780M upgrade and a 512 Flash Drive.
I use Logic Pro X with large sample libraries Play 4 and Kontakt5 streaming from from SSDs in a Promise J4 attached via Thunderbolt and a Focusrite Scarlet 214 audio interface. Just have apple wired keyboard and MS wired mouse attached and a Asus 2nd 24" monitor with USB 3 hub built in.

The kernel panics started the same day as the RAM went in.

I did a clean install of Mavericks and have all Apple updates installed. It arrived a week ago,

edit: it may have contributed to a bootcamp issue I've discovered. I had a hard lock on Win8 and today I found most of my bootcamp partition was full. 56GB of a fresh 80GB partition with a ginormous page file.

fyi - mine is a BTO 3.5 GHz i7 with 780M and 256 ssd.

Ok so from what I have seen so far seen so far, the only common denominator is the Third Party RAM at 32GB (more folks here https://discussions.apple.com/message/23646659#23646659).

People have experienced it with the i5 & i7, both the 775m and 780m so I would say the issue seems to be with running 4 sticks of 8GB Third Party RAM.

ClivePwned, how's it been running since you took one of the sticks out?

My iMac has been running fine since last post - no crashes on only 16gb 1.5v corsair vengeance (2 x 8gb).

Surely it's something Apple need to look into?

This morning I moved both of the 3rd party 8 gig sticks from slots 3 and 4 down to slots 1 and 2, and put the 2 x 4Gb Apple sticks in slots 3 and 4.

The computer's been running all day. no crashes. So all of the sticks are fine, just not all at once.

Is this your ram setup from the system report under memory?

i.e.
Bank 0/Dimm0 4GB
Bank 1/Dimm0 4GB
Bank 0/Dimm1 8GB
Bank 1/Dimm1 8GB

Shouldn't your 8gb be in slot 1 and 3 and 4gb in slot 2 and 4 (or vice versa) for dual channel?

Can somebody correct me if i'm wrong here..

After another two crashes my patience disappeared and I am returning my machine to Apple. I was outside of the 14 days since purchasing but technically, I only had the machine for 11 days so they extended it (Glad to see the support it not as flawed as their builds have become).

I am also going to return my Third Party RAM and once it has all cleared, I will order the machine again with 32GB of Apple RAM installed. I don't see why I didn't do it to begin with, it was only another £300 on what I paid with Third Party RAM and it had cost me more than that in time spent trying to resolve issues!
