I'm aware that most of the typical FirePro options aren't available / supported under OS X, but does anybody know if they're available under Windows (using an AMD Windows FirePro driver)?

In particular, I'm wondering about 10-bit color and ECC.

I remember reading quite a few reports that none of the FirePro GPUs in the 2013 Mac Pro support ECC under OS X (nor does Apple mention anything), but I came across a post where a user mentioned all the FirePro options (including 10-bit color and ECC) are available under Windows with the D700. Aside from this one user, I can't find much information on this though.

Anybody have any experience with this? If ECC is in fact enabled by the Windows driver, is it only with the D700 or does it work with the other cards as well?

Thanks

Anybody here run Windows on their 2013 Mac Pro?

I found one report that the Windows FirePro drivers do enable ECC functionality with the D700, but that single report was all I could find.

Can anybody confirm that ECC is in fact available under Windows with the D700 (there should be an ECC option in FirePro control center)?

Can anybody confirm / deny the same for the D500 and D300?

Thanks

I have the D700 in mine. I'm not in front of my computer right now, but I do remember seeing the option for ECC in Windows. Not sure about 10-bit color, I would have to look. If I remember, I'll check when I get home.

IIRC ECC is implemented at the GPU level on both NVIDIA and AMD cards, and when you enable it you loose about 12.5% of your video memory to parity bits. There really isn't much reason why ECC wouldn't be available on the D700.

Thanks for the info. This makes me feel a lot more confident given that I could only find one other report of a D700 having ECC functionality (of course, the number of Mac Pro users that upgraded to the D700 and have Windows installed on it are probably exceedingly small to begin with).

Thanks, I actually remember reading something about this as well. It would make me think the D500 is likely to have it as well, assuming the D500 is in fact based on the W8000 (although the D500 is a bit of an oddball relative to AMD's production workstation cards).

Anyway, it's looking like the D700 might actually be one heck of deal.
