I have a 2013 MacBook Air. It has the service battery message and dies in a couple hours. When I look up this laptop even not being the lowest tier and having 256 gb ssd it’s worth maybe 250 usd. Is it worth paying for a battery or should I just junk/trade it. I don’t know how much apple will charge to replace the battery.

I just got done replacing the battery in my 2013 MBA for $50. To me I'd say it's worth fixing as this laptop still does everything I use a travel laptop for. I'm running Sierra and it has been very responsive with no performance lags.

Ultimately it has to be up to you to decide whether or not it's worth fixing but here's the link I used to get my Genuine Apple MacBook Air battery for my laptop :)

https://www.la-tronics.com/storeite...-Air-13-A1466-Battery-A1496-Md-2013-2014-2015

for storage you can also update that using NVMe which is fast and cost much less than the Apple branded SSD card. (M key M.2 PCI-e AHCI SSD Adapter Card)

https://www.neweggbusiness.com/Prod...VkeDICh0ibAzeEAkYASABEgLB1PD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

then you can add an Intel SSD 600p Series 512GB M.2 2280 80mm NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4 3D
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-SSD-...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

then you would have a MBA you can easily use for a few more years... at least that's my thought since you have already paid for the laptop...

that adapter says NOT support NVME SSD. The battery however is cheap enough thanks for the link I will grab that.

I've had Apple replace the battery ($129, I think) and done them myself. Very easy, about $50. In my experience, Apple batteries can either last a long time (4+ years) or not (2 years). A mixed bag in our flock of four MBAs.
Note that in one instance, after the battery had swelled, ultimately necessitating the replacement of the trackpad. Cheap enough, but best not to wait.

I would be careful about cheap batteries, as a safety standpoint.

Totally agree. I found this website thru Google search and they advertised "New Genuine Original Apple Macbook Air 13" A1466 Battery A1496 Md 2013 2014 2015" and pricing was $49.99 so I went ahead and purchased it.

When it arrived the battery looked just like the original battery I took out of my MBA. Ran on this battery tonight for just over 6 hours while doing the battery calibration procedure and right now it's showing I have an additional 5hrs of battery life left so 11 hours is not bad...

Do you know how long it took for them to ship your battery if you got it from La Tronics and if they sent you a shipped notification. My order crashed when purchasing. It sat at payment pending for like 4 days even though it had already been taken from my account. I contacted them and it now says my payment has processed but havent got any sort of a shipment email or anything that has indicated that my order is moving through the steps to shipment. so far i am not impressed with this company and lack of contact with letting me know whats going on with the order.

I went thru the same issue (order crashed when purchasing thru PayPal) and waited about 5 days then I got an email from them. If you have your order details, send them email (info@la-tronics.com) with your order details and date of purchase and they should respond. This was the response I got from them when I purchased mine thru PayPal.

"Thank you for your purchase. We do apologize for the delay. Our system failed to notify us that payment had been received. We have since verified payment and shipped out your item via USPS Priority Mail."

For some reason they seemed to have an issue that a simple email should correct. Since you've experienced a similar issue while purchasing a new battery I will have to see if I get the same response as I'm building another 2013 MacBook Air...

I just had Apple replace the battery in my 2012. A small price to pay. This thing's still doing the same great job for me it did when I bought it six years ago. I'll keep it for as long as Apple keep supporting it with OS updates.

FWIW, the battery Apple installs now is higher capacity than the original one.

I need a new battery for my Macbook Air 13 2012 - I've gone back and forth whether or not I want to go genuine Apple for $129, iFixit for $89.99 or OWC for $84.99. I'm tech savy so have no qualms with doing this myself.. just want to ensure I get a good quality battery.

I dont think I'd ever order from a site like that since the chances of that being a real OEM Apple battery are slim to none at that price. Either its not, or its used.

I thought about this and was thinking of getting mine from ifixit.com but went this route since it was only $49.99. I figured if this battery did not work out then I can get one from ifixit. So far this battery has been working very well on my 2013 MBA.... no complaints.

Would you mind posting a screenshot of Coconut battery along with the info it shows about the manufacturer?

Getting it from Apple pretty much assure you another 1,000 cycles, but if u don't intend to keep this puppy for that long, hey, DIY it. I gotta do mine soon, will check out iFixit and chk out what people over there say about iFixit's offerings. It should surprise nobody, lots of floating Chinese batteries with unknown longevity, if they don't swell up before death.

I just installed the battery on my 2013 macbook air and its working good. I show 12 hours on a full charge and 1 cycle. Its the same capacity as the original so im happy for the 50 shipped I paid for it. If I can get another year out of this laptop im happy. My old battery kept showing service battery warning and only showed 4 hours capacity at full charge. It took me literally less than 10 minutes to change the battery since it came with the 2 screwdrivers I needed. Most of the time was cleaning all the dust out not changing the battery.

Mrbobb saying another 1000 cycles, and mine has done 986 with a status of good.

Having said that, it's 2000mah less than the one above running at 77% of full capacity... depending on the cost of that, I might just do it and wait a few more years and spend big on a major macbook update replacement. Can't see the MB as much of an improvement over a 2013 MBA 11...
