Not long to go now :D

Thought it would be fun to have a thread where all you football/soccer lovers post the 23 man squads you'd pick for your home countries (or any country you wish) for Brazil 2014.

    I'll put mine below.

    ----------

    Here's my pick for England

    GK: Hart, Forster, Butland
    FB: Baines, Shaw, Johnson, Walker
    CB: Cahill, Jagielka, Jones, Smalling
    CMF: Gerrard, Henderson, Barkley, Wilshire
    AMF/Wingers: Lallana, Oxlaide-Chamberlain, Sterling, Townsend
    F: Rooney, Sturridge, Welbeck, Lambert

I've gone for youth as much as possible - worth doing I think when you know you're not going to win it!

It's a real shame Walcott is out. Obviously would have had him in instead of Townsend who hasn't done much lately.

Also, don't really want Lambert in there as he doesn't have much of an international future, but can't think of a younger striker who deserves to be in there.

I don't think Butland will be in it - I think we're more likely to see John Ruddy or David Stockdale. Most of your choices I'd agree with though.

GK: Hart (Man City), Forster (Celtic), Stockdale (Fulham)

DF: Cahill (Chelsea), Jagielka (Everton), Cole (Chelsea), Baines (Everton), Johnson (Liverpool), Smalling (Man United), Jones (Man United)

Midfield: Gerrard, Henderson, Sterling (Liverpool), Lallana (Soton), Barkley (Everton), Wilshire (Arsenal), Townsend (Spurs), Carrick (Man United), Oxalade-Chamberlain (Arsenal)

Strikers: Rooney, Wellbeck (Man United), Sturridge (Liverpool), Lambert (Soton)

Sadly I don't think we'll get much further than Round 2. Spain are my favourites, although Germany, Brazil and Belgium (my dark horses) have good chances too.

I agree, going beyond round 2 would be a bonus.

Would love to see Belgium pull it off! Astonishing generation of players from such a small country.
