I have a 2014 MBA 11 that I bought from the Apple Store in December 2014. It has a 256gb SSD.

It still works fine for purposes, but I really don't like having to bring a 256gb USB flash drive with me all the time. (no SD card slot on the MBA 11)

Is it possible to replace the 256gb SSB to a 512gb SSD?(or bigger?)

Thanks!

I don't think it's a good value to put an expensive SSD in a three year old computer. Probably makes more sense to sell it and buy another computer that has enough storage to meet your needs.

OWC has drives that should be compatible but $450 seems like a lot of money for a 512gb drive. I guess you can offset that by selling your old 256gb ssd.

There have been many posts about these OWC upgrades however, not completely sure whether there are some caveats to using them compared to an original Apple SSD. And there are also some other threads that are very critical of OWC's quality and service.

I got the 512gb ssd in my 2013 MBA and have never regretted that choice.

Another option is the JetDrive 820 by Transcend. You've got both 480 and 960 GB flavors, but, like the OWC, it's not cheap at $370-400 for the 480 GB size. MCE Technologies also offers products for your MBA.
