"temporarily out of stock". Plus it's only 1080p. The 13" rMBP is 2560 x 1600 which is a much sharper and clear image. I'd notice the pixels on a standard 1080p panel. Once you go retina you can't go back. LOL
That's mostly correct, but omits the fact that it all boils down to viewing distance (i.e. angle). You won't be able to discern the pixels on a standard 1080p panel from a certain distance.
The maximum angular resolution of the human eye is typically between 0.02 to 0.03 degrees, so Wikipedia.
When in the era of CRT televison the suggested minimum viewing distance was 2.5 times the screen diagonal, then now in the era of 4K panels it is only the screen height.

Yeah maybe. But I'd still lose screen real estate. Right now my 13" rMBP is "scaled" to 1440x900 but double that in pixel density. A 1920x1080 is not much bigger and I lose pixel density. If I got a 2560x1440 display it would be sharper image and more real estate.

A 27" 1440p display is standard density.

I know that. But it would offer more screen space than my rMBP which by default is only 1280x800 but with double pixel density. I just have mine at "1440x900". So 2560x1440 would be much more space to work with.

Yes it would be. 2650x1440 would be a sharper image than 1920x1080 on the same size screen and more screen real estate.
I am against 1080p monitors bigger than 24", that's why I did not see a sharpness improvement.

is there really anybody who got a displayport 1.2 to hdmi 2.0 active adapter work with a Retina Macbook Pro late 2013 or later and a 4k 60 hz monitor (MST) and please could you tell us which adapter, which tv / monitor and which mac ?

Some TVs don't have HDMI 2.0 or HDCP 2.2 on all ports.
