2015 4k iMac vs 2017 4k iMac

Im getting one for my dad. He basically just does social media, youtube, rtc. I found two iMacs that look great. I was wondering which would be better.

The 2015 Specs:

21 inch

3.3 Ghz Core i7

256 SSD

16 GB Ram


2017:

21 inch

3 Ghz Core i5

1TB SSD

8GB Ram

For iMacs, generally, "newer is better".

The only weak spot with the 2017 is 8gb of RAM. RAM on the 21" iMac is not really "user upgradeable" (entire computer must be disassembled).

However, 8gb will still probably do the job well for the use case you mention above.

So... of the two choices... I'd buy the 2017.
