OP, why would Apple release a brand new laptop that can't properly run it's own OS??

I'm sure it's more than capable.

It's a little pricey at launch I won't disagree, but while there are trade-offs in some areas there are impressive achievements in others.

It costs £1000 for a 1.1ghz intel M cpu, while for the same money you can get a 2.2Ghz i7 Macbook Air. What is the point in the macbook? It is only slightly thinner than the macbook air but way slower. a 2.4Ghz 2009 Macbook doesn't run yosemite super smooth, so how bad is this new one going to be? It is slower than the previous macbook. 1.1Ghz is just not acceptable in 2015. That tim cook is insane and needs heavily sedating.

Did you also whine when the rMBP first came out and the price was 50% higher than the non rMBP? If so, just go back and review those replies.

OP clearly doesn't understand technology.

You can get a retina mbp for £50 less which is still super portable and super fast.

No, I don't agree that it is "super portable". "Reasonably portable", may be... I have an 11" MBA and a 13" MBP. I can't bear lugging the 13" MBP around all day, and it generally stays at home doing not very much (work bought it for me). My MBA is FAR more portable, and "super fast" for my needs, and the rMB will trump the rMBP even further in terms of portability. If you haven't used an 11" MBA, you don't now what super portable is, and the rMB will be that, and then some...

I really don't get these kind of threads. Why not just buy the computer you feel is worth your money and fits your needs?

I'm not trying to bag on anybody, but I realize some people just need something to complain about and somewhere/someone to complain to. Its like the Apple Watch Edition situation. All this complaining over a product that wasn't marketed at you to begin with that you can easily laugh off and disregard and choose to spend your money on something else.

That's why the funniest day of being on these forums for me was March 9th after the keynote because I knew the complainers would be here full force, and I wasn't disappointed. It's funny but sad at the same time.

Don't like, don't buy. Simple.

zhenya specifically stated that the display is more useful. Still debatable but you went off topic

Yes, and I debated that statement since everybody has its own needs. We are still talking about the nMB so I don't see why it was offtopic. But I see this will end in a neverending loop so not worth the effort

That's it GGJstudio, that was my point even if you wanna see it from the other side of the coin, it's still a coin.

The main problem is that if someone expresses a view that is different from the main flow of enthusiasts' opinion then he/she is "complaining", "whining" etc.
Don't like different opinions, don't visit those threads. Simple.

The fanless design is what intrigues me the most (despite retina being a big deal for me). If it performs to the level that I want to and does it silently, that's a huge plus (that's to be determined). Right now, my MBA's fans are going full blast.

FWIW, the rMBPs are completely silent as a result of their asymmetrical fan blade design. I think I've heard the fans on mine kick up only once. ;)

That said, I like the idea of laptop with no moving parts.

Look at the pricing and (absence of) power and features of the original Air. Recent history strongly suggests that it is not Tim Cook who needs sedating.

Parts that transform elektro-magnetic energy into kinetic energy are very inefficient. I'm glad that there's no fan to shuffle hot air.

Nice try but no. I'm all for different opinions. Thats the point of message forums, to express and hear different opinions.

The problem is when it becomes excessive and thread after thread after thread is made just for that purpose. Seriously, just count how many threads there are with people complaining about the MacBook and the Apple Watch pricing right now.

Then come back and tell me I don't have a point. I dare you.
