Hello everyone,

The company I'm working at has two Macbook's: 2015 Macbook Pro and 2017 Macbook Pro.

I'm not sure which one should I pick. In terms of performance which one is better?

The specs of the 2015 Macbook Pro:

The specs of the 2017 Macbook Pro:

Thanks in advance for any reply.

its depend on your task and load. if you're not heavy in task, just office activity like email, document, sometimes editing image, browsing, youtube, better go with 2017 13".

from performance point of view, i will go with 15", using 16GB ram, u will need to support future OS and application :D

I’d say the 2015 may be a better choice, it if it doesn’t have discrete graphics, it may be a wash. That’s a low end 2015. Actually the 2017 is a 13 inch model, 2015 is no doubt faster for most tasks.

What did you end up with?
I chose 2015 Macbook pro.

I have 2017 Macbook Pro as my personal computer and as my observation so far, with these specs 2015 is faster than 2017 one.

As for the cons, I would prefer 13 inch as the 15 inch is a bit big for my likings. I also prefer the keyboard of the newer Macbooks. The keyboard of 2015 feels a bit mushy in comparison. 2015 is also a bit thicker and heavier. Also the space grey color of the new Macbook pro looks cooler.

So for looks-wise I would prefer the newer Macbook and for performance-wise I would prefer 2015 with these specs.

Good call.

The 2015 keyboard feels mushy coming off the butterfly keys, but you get used to that in no time.

Also, absolutely no idea if true, but the mushiness may be easier on your fingers? Totally made up reasoning.

Yes I got used to it and 2015 keyboard is by no means bad. It's just that I prefer the more clicky feeling of the butterfly switches. It has relatively low travel distance and requires less force to actuate so I find it easier to type but that might be just me as many people find it uncomfortable to type on it. Though I have to admit it's really unreliable and the likelihood of the keys creating trouble is pretty high. I had to get them replaced 3 times so far, so I wouldn't say I'm a big fan of it.

The keyboard of the new 16 inch Macbook pro is better than both though. It's thin, more comfortable to type and reliable.

I definitely prefer the 2015 keyboard, but the 2011 keyboard was even better.
My mother has 2012 Macbook pro and I agree with this. I really enjoy typing on it and it provides the best typing experience out of all the Macbook keyboards imo. Though as powerslave12r said, it's relatively bulky so I can see why Apple ditched them.

Yeah well more importantly they’re too slow, don’t support new OS’s, and have lo res screens! I just loved the keyboards.
