Hi all.
Over the past couple of weeks I've had some intermittent failings on my 2015 mbp keyboard and trackpad. At first it was on waking from sleep, where a restart fixed the issue. Later, I had to reset the NVRAM and it would then work. After that started to fail, resetting my user password in the recovery partition would bring everything back.
Then that stopped. resetting SMC, NVRAM, booting in safe mode, booting into Yosemite on an external drive, and completely reinstalling the system from the formatted internal SSD didn't fix a thing. I took it to an Apple Store today where diagnostics said everything was fine. The employee then took it out back and came back saying that the flex cable had become disconnected, and that he had reseated it and it would all work again. Upon returning home and using the computer for 20 minutes (on a Skype call so the machine was warm), it failed again, with system preferences not recognising a trackpad. I've reinstalled again to a clean system and again, nothing. However, i can use the trackpad and keyboard when booting into an external Ubuntu install.
Any suggestions on what the issue could be or how to deal with this at the next appointment on Monday? This is my work machine, I travel a lot, and am preparing work for presentation at an international conference so external mice and keyboards or leaving it for long periods of time are not particularly feasible. It's protected under AppleCare too.
Thanks!
