Let me clarify a few things....
- After going from Macbook Air to Retina Macbook in April, I also went from a 2012 iMac 27 to a 5k (retina) iMac 27 in May. So having retina on my primary desktop, and retina on my laptop, it's hard to go back to a non-retina, and especially a sub-standard non-retina screen. What part of any of that is difficult for you to comprehend. If you are raised eating canned crab, and then experience real, fresh crab, it only takes one taste and you never want to go back. It's not a difficult concept.
- I only suggest the Air as an option to be able to hi light its downfall, the screen, to save the responses like yours "well why don't you just..." which clearly it didn't work, since you still say it even though the two aspects I think are most important are screen quality and portability, which I've made painfully clear.
- Regarding the cost ... I'm sorry you don't understand. I generally don't like to be so blatant about it in how I respond, but cost isn't an issue. If I could buy the ideal configuration I'd throw down $4,000 instead of settling for compromise, but unfortunately the limiting factor is the technology at this point, not the cost. Maybe $1300 is worth more to you, but don't assume everyone is in your financial situation. I'm not saying it to be arrogant or condescending, but if someone's primary driver for their Apple purchase is EVER cost, then Apple really isn't the brand for them. A primary driver for an Apple consumer can be many things, but most common is operational performance, quality, or aesthetics (or combination of several). Not many people buy Apple because it's the cheap option. It might be the best value, but that's because of the above one or more attributes. Did I ever bring up any issue with cost in ANY comment I made? Nope. So instead of saying you don't understand how I can drop the cash to try a machine (which by the way I've dropped more like $1900 into my rMB not $1300), read the issues I have, and address those, instead of applying your own values to the decisions I make.
again there you go painting with your broad paint brush just like everybody that doesn't have an issue with the rMB is in denial or drank the kool-aid.
You have no clue of my financial situation, believe me if I couldn't afford apple products I would't buy them. But like you I value what Apple brings to the table.
But unlike you I also stick to my convictions of if the product doesn't work for me then I either stick with what has been working or look elsewhere to find a product that does work for me. Instead of having regrets and complaining about it.
I can't address your issues, because I don't have those issues, but then again I'm just in denial.
Thanks!
