Hi everyone,

I have a 2015 rMBP that intermittently has an issue where the z key seems to be held down, but it's not. I've done some considerable searching throughout Google and have tried resetting the SMC controller, but the issue continues to show after a day or two.

My next step is reinstalling MacOS, but I'm skeptical that will fix it.

Does anyone have any experience with this issue or any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Yes, try spraying isopropyl alcohol around and under the key and give it a workout.

I’m going to give this a shot... I‘ve been hoping it was something other than hardware, but I’m feeling less optimistic. Thanks for the suggestion!

It could be hardware, but that usually presents as a key not working, and along with z, usually a, q and 1 would not work either because the keyboard is a matrix. A sticking key is normally from dirt or sugar.
