I'm getting about 9-10 hours on the 2016 (15" vase model). I seriously considered the 2015 though. Why I chose the '16?
I have a 12" MBr m5 that I'll be selling, so I already had adjusted to USB-C and dongles, no big deal for me.
I'm convinced that USB-C is going to move pretty fast and become the standard. I typically keep my Mac's 4-5+ years and would rather have the newer connections to help get more life out of it. That point can be argued though, I do realize this.
I spend all day working on it for my corporate job and then in the evening for personal use and my photography/video things. I sat down with both the 15 & 16 models, side by side and the screen on both is great, but the 16 is the one I like the best.
The keyboard. I LOVE the new keyboards....I know many don't, but I do. Loved the MBr and this is even better, so for me, the 16 wins in this area.
Touchbar. At first I wasn't sold on it. The more I use it, the more I really like it and find it useful.
Touch ID. LOVE this. Switching between work and personal profiles on the Mac is so fast. Love it for ApplePay and 1Password as well.
I don't game on it. The both handle what I need to do very well (business apps, Lightroom and Final Cut Pro X).
The size and weight were a winner for me as well. It may not be a huge thing, but I have a very nice worn in leather messenger bag made for 13" laptops that the 2015 would not fit in. The 2016, slides right in...not much room to spare, but it fits. Small thing, but nice to have.
The fans on the 2016 are very quiet. After having the 12" MBr without fans, that sound drives me nuts now. Again, small point in favor of the '16.
I like the looks of it better and love Space Gray. Silver is fine as well.
My corporate discount made the price a bit better. Yes, it's still more, but a $376 difference was enough with the point above for me.
