So I'm looking at coconutBattery and it's saying that my discharge rate is 25 Watts right now with only Safari (and this page) running. It has, in fact, never gone beneath 19 Watts during the time I have been running it. No apps are reported as using significant energy.

Shouldn't this be running wayyyyyy lower? Particularly if not using the discrete card?

Yes. My 2016 RMBP15 (2.9 GHZ, 1TB, 460) with brightness set to 10 clicks, Safari, Mail, Outlook open runs in the 6 - 11 watts range.

I'm getting 9-11 watts with Microsoft word, Spotify, Steam, Safari with 3 tabs open.

Brightness is at 10 clicks also.

Did you update to the latest MacOS? I heard that fixed some battery problems

same here. MBP 15 inch 512gb.

Running 10.12.2

As of today, i'll probably be getting 8-9 hours (heavy chrome, dropbox, telegram cha, wifi)

I think theres a firmware bug that give power to the AMD card even when its not in use, try nvram reset and smc reset

Wow. Sitting here (again). Chrome, two tabs open to MacRumors forum threads. Spark sitting idle. Messages open, but idle. Been open for about 15 mins, dropped from 98% to 92%, 19 Watts discharging, 4 hours remaining according to coconutBattery. In all of 15 mins, it has never dropped below 15 Watts.

something really interesting.

I have 2 partitions, one for office use (IT manages the policies), and one for home use.

At the office, im getting consistent 5-11w with regular surfing (chrome), spotify, chat app etc. I got 8-9 hours yesterday.

When i reached home, i rebooted to my "home partition" and was averaging 15w, doing the same thing. Batt estimate abt 5-6 hrs. The only additional apps I have are VPN software! Somehow, something is different.

I'm pretty sure all the battery issues are software related.

I average around 6-7 watts during use on my 13" MBP w/touchbar. Don't forget that there is lots of idle time that should be occurring for brief periods that you're not seeing but it's reflected in overall battery life.

I have found that the battery discharges fast from like 100% to 75%, but then continues to hold its charge longer from 75 to 0%. For example it'll take like 1-2 hours to get down to 75%, but then after 75% it will take longer to deplete the battery.
