sorry for the rant but I hate this computer. It is irritating on a daily basis with its Usb-c ports but the real pain is reliability. I have had it around 10 months. 2 months ago they replaced the keyboard, battery and top case because the keyboard wasnt working properly. One month ago they replaced the display due to a problem with the back light. Today the computer hung, after the track pad became unresponsive. I turned it off and now it won't turn on again or show any signs of life. It was at 90% charge at the time and doesn't matter if it's on or off the charger. Tried to reset smc to no avail. I assume the logic board has now gone bad. Apple store is 45 minutes each way. Already had to make 8 1 way trips to get the first two problems fixed now it's going to be dead for another week or more. I spoke with Apple and I am hoping they may give me a new computer. Wish I could get my money back at this point and buy another air which is what this computer replaced

Call Apple and demand a replacement machine. You are past the lemon law now and Apple is usually good about giving you the current model for all these issues. The 2017s are much improved in the keyboard and other hardware.

Wow, that's incredibly bad luck :(

I have to say, I'm having good luck with my 2016 15" MBP, but the Air that I had before, was insanely reliable. And quite powerful in its own right.

Sounds like you have a dud.

I have a 2016 non touch-bar model, it's the best I've ever had, no issues since I bought it almost a year ago from refurb store.

Sounds like just bad luck. I'm also on a 2016 ntb 8/256 and all is well and all is fine.

Hello,

Using an entry i5 nTB CTO from 2016 at work (16 gb ram + 512 gb ssd) and it works quite well. I have had a stucked key issues with the keyboard which disappeared after 4 weeks. I would probably recommend the laptop (7/10 for me). Not working as tight as the mbp pro 2014 13in i had at my previous office but good enough to get work done.

Try to get another unit if you can, this looks lika terrible lemon.

Just curious why did you have to argue? I am surprised Apple's customer service would require that.

I also thought that was strange. Here was the thing, I first started with online chat on the website, they tried to help and ended up having someone from customer relations call me. They called and told me I should go to the Apple store for a replacement device. I told them that at the Apple store and they looked at my history and the online agent left notes, but the person who called me didn't make any notes on the conversation. I told them they set up the genius appointment, and then I showed them the mention in the chat, and the call in the history of my iPhone but basically the manager was acting like he didn't believe me because they never don't leave notes. I told him it wasn't my fault that they didn't leave notes, he said he wasn't saying that it was, and I said listen, they told me you would replace the device, I drove 45 minutes to this store AGAIN expecting to leave with a computer, he acted like this was against protocol, I told him maybe we could call customer relations again perhaps they had a record of the call, he said the store isn't able to call customer relations and went to the back to talk to someone he called administration and then came out and gave me what I wanted. Definitely the worst experience I have ever had at an apple store. I have a lot of apple products, 2 watches, 3 phones, 3 iPads, Mac mini, MacBook Pro, iMac, time capsule, airport express, those are just the ones I own right now, not to mention the huge number of devices that I have had in the past (2 more watches, like 10 more MacBook pros, 3 MacBook airs, at least 4 other iPads and 8 other iPhones). I was prepared to accept the logic board replacement and then e-mail Tim Cook about the service but fortunately it worked out

Ridiculous, how this case was treated. Please don't get too upset about it, it's just a laptop. I agree it's a very expensive one, but elsewhere I just read about a guy who bought an electric car (Renault Zoe) and had major trouble getting it to charge anywhere, having to fight Renault service, etc. That's a cool 35 grand right there, and a major disturbance to (work)life.

However, I don't want to belittle your experience. I'm very happy you got a new model. Hope you get to enjoy it now! If it works, IMHO it's a marvelous laptop.
