My 2016 tbMBP 15" charger can't detect charger intermittently.. Tried all 4 usb-c ports and other outlets. Happens in both windows 10 and macOS.
Anyone else have the same issue? tried resetting SMC/PRAM and didn't help. Haven't tried another charger yet, will probably try tomorrow.

How intermittent is it? Is it charging but coming and going? Or do you have to plug it in multiple times before it registers, but once it registers it will fully charge?

I assume you are using the apple charger for testing? Is the other charger you are going to try also Apple or a 3rd party?

This happened to me this week. Called Apple yesterday, they remoted into my MBP to review the power settings, etc and they requested I take it to a local Apple store or get shipped a new Power Adapter and Cord. I chose the shipping option and received it today. It works fine now. I also just received a phone call from a Senior Specialist about the issue and he noted to contact him if this happens again and he'll send me a new replacement MBP. Thumbs Up for great support.

Genius bar tried another charger and had issues too. I guess it's possible that both chargers are defective because it's from the same batch/lot.

Why would you place a new order? Call the Apple sales hotline and have them issue a replacement. It places you in the front of the queue and should take 2-3 weeks.
Thanks for the tip, but too late now. Was asking the Apple store/genius bar about that and they said there's no way to expedite a BTO order.. guess i shoud've called.

Slimwallet,

1. Did you ever use a non apple charger to charge your laptop?
2. Is this from the first batch of MBP 2016s?

I had the exact same issue as you. Can't charge, and macbook eventually dies from no power (and can't charge).
Ended up swapping things out from the store I bought my mbp at.

Got my new 15 inch 2.7/16/1TB in today and experienced the same problem. Wouldn't recognize charger. Found a Google item that suggested resetting System Management Settings. Directions were given to shut down then hold shift, control, option and the power button for 10 seconds before restarting. Did so and that resolved the problem.

Hope this helps.

I once had to do something similar with the 2015 MacBook. Everything worked fine after that.
