2016 tbMBP Trackpad Not Detecting Initial Movements On Sides(left/right edges)

Hello All,

I am an avid fan! I just got a 15" TB MBP and had a quick question.

On the trackpad, when you initiate movement on the sides(left and right) and move your finger up and down, the trackpad does not respond, is it normal? On my previous MacBook Pro it happened on the bottom, I am assuming since the thumb rests and clicks on that section, but in this case it also happens along the middle 1/3 of the edges. I am attaching a photo, hopefully it is a design feature to prevent the palms from causing movement as I would hate to send a brand-new machine in for repair.

When moving the finger from anywhere else all the way to the edges it will detect it though.

Any insights from 2016 MacBook Pro owners would be much appreciated!!

I'm not near my laptop at the moment, but my assessment agrees with yours. It's probably the palm rejection.

Hopefully you are right, I contacted AppleCare and they were not sure if it was design or damage, hopefully it is the former. Unfortunately I am abroad and do not have an Apple Store nearby to test it.

I have the same model as you and can confirm it behaves you yours, like the other poster said its probably just the palm rejection so i didn't think much about it.

My only problem so far is that the laptop wakes up or do something while the lid is closed, today i woke up an the battery went down almost 15% just with the lid closed.

Mine is also performing sporadic tasks with the lid closed while on battery power, Power Nap is disabled so I do not know what is going on, hopefully they will address it on an update.

I tried all the new MBP 2016 in Apple Store and all behave the same.
