All the posts I've been seeing are people asking questions about using logic boards from newer year models in their older Macs. For example, using a 2017 logic board in a 2014 iMac etc. And run into issues with connection placements like microphone connections or external ports.

I'm running a base model 2017 27" iMac 3.4GHz Radeon Pro 570 with upgraded ram and SSD and need just a tiny bit extra processing power.

If I were to purchase a used logic board, same year 2017, containing a 4.2GHz processor and Radeon 575 Graphic card, would that integrate seamlessly with my setup? Hard to compare connections but they look very similar.

I've considered just upgrading the processor on my current system,, but don't feel confident enough to upgrade the processor specifically. With an upgraded logic board I can sell off the old one and benefit from an upgraded graphics card as well. Logic board is an easy swap for me.

Thank you in advance for your time. Appreciate it!

Hey, yeah - you shouldn't have any issue swapping within the same year for the 2017. So it will fit absolutely fine.

If I remember correctly - the 2019 logicboard will fit absolutely fine within the 2017 chassis too without any issues.
Edit: The only issue you'd face using a 2019 logicboard with 2017 everything else is with the backlight connector, but it is possible to bend it into place, or just swap the backlight connector itself easily.

Just for other peoples info - I swapped a late 2015 Retina iMac logic Board with i5 6500 CPU into Late 2014 Chassis, screen, speakers and WIFI card and it almost fit perfectly. Used my WIFI card from 2014 and it worked fine, Only thing I had to modify was the right speaker as the wifi card is further to the top right corner on the late 2015 logic board.
