So I have had the 2016 keyboard issue and my MPB TB is due back today from being repaired. Per the tech, they "performed a keyboard alignment and replaced top case w/ battery".
Needless to say from reading many post and seeing videos on this issue I have very little confidence that it won't occur again. I will be asking Apple if there is ANYthing they can do to take the computer back. I know it's unlikely but I do not have time to deal with 3+ repairs. I lose time when I dont' work.
With all of this said, the point of my post is that if you haven't seen, there is a difference in the 2016 and 2017 keyboard. Many reporting 2017 is better and issues are resolved. Some saying they are still having issues with the 2017.
What I found interesting is that we can tell the difference in the new vs old keyboard. That helps. What is also interesting is that now when you look at images of 2016 refurbished MBP on the Apple site, they have the new '2017' keyboard. What a PITA.
I want to keep this 2016 and maybe the new top case and keyboard makes everything better. The problem is, I don't know.. and in a few months if I don't pony up for more warranty I will be on the hook for these repairs. This is not what I paid $2,000 for. .. and many people paid much, much more.
