There's a lot more travel (relatively speaking) on the new 2017 model compared to the 2016 one. It feels just like the keyboard on the MBPs. The previous rMB keyboards took a bit of getting used to for me as the travel was so shallow, but I'm impressed with the new one.

I've not run any benchmarks on the 2017 rMB, but its hard to describe just how snappy and responsive it feels no matter what you're doing - I'm guessing this is down to the new SSD as much as anything?

Are you sure? I thought it was more to do with the design than the travel. As in the travel hasn't changed that much but gives the perception of more travel.

The 2017 m3 is a huge spec improvement over the 2016 m3.

2017 m3: 1.2 GHz, with Turbo Boost up to 3.0 GHz, and full 10-bit 4K HEVC decode in hardware.

2016 m3: 1.1 GHz, with Turbo Boost up to 2.2 GHz, and 8-bit 4K HEVC decode in hardware.

In benchmarks, the 2017 m3 is roughly 20-30% faster than the 2016 m3. And yeah, it got a faster SSD too.

It could well be that its just the perception of more travel, but I swear they seem to be sitting a bit higher and not as flat as the v1 butterfly keys.
