Really? I have a 12" MacBook and the screen is great. To each their own I suppose...
Yeah, I've got one of those too, a 2010 that I rebuilt. Not a great screen, but that thing is pretty solid.
I was able to price match at Best Buy for old Gold (which was itself on clearance), no Rose Gold left at Best Buy. At this price the MacBook is totally worth it
I too think the price is worth it, especially when no tax is involved with free shipping.
So how much did you pay for the Macbook?
The Air is on clearance for 1039 I think, and I would've went gold but no stores close buy had any.
Just did some research. I may have to take advantage of this. Is gold a womans color though??

Unfortunately quite a few states with tax for B&H, including mine.
Best Buy local stores have the ability to order items they do not have in stock to be shipped to you. Likewise, that inventory is available for phone orders. As for (old) Gold, I think it’s completely nonsense only some colors are good for men/women. That said I’ve gotten backhanded (?) remarks like “my daughter has that in the same color!” And my wife has repeatedly told me not to buy a (new) gold Apple Watch with the pink band...
Well I missed the boat. 1st I thought you folks were talking about the older air. Then I realized it was the Macbook. I went to B&H tonight but got my dates crossed and was thinking the 23rd was tomorrow. Anyhow I added the MB to my cart and figured I'd come back because I was tending to other matters... came back and checked it again and the price for 799 is over. I would have gotten the gold 1 for that price. It sucks because I just picked up the 2018 Air it still n box and plastic for 1049... this would've save me $250 and got me the memory I wanted....
Damn this was a bad deal to miss.
I'll have pay closer attention to time frames.

Update... so today I was able to score the MB gold for the 799. No tax and free shipping. Pretty amazing deal.
You could put a D-brand skin on the MB. They have a 20% off sale running. For $30, you can get the color of your choice and not have to see the gold.

How do you figure that amount? The Best Buy old gold on clearance is $240 more (which is why I think the price match was allowed, would have shut me down if I tried it on the full $500 difference), and the new MacBook Air you mentioned is $250 more
The MB gold I purchased was 799 total price.
The 2018 Air was 1049 for pres day sale plus tax which was like another 73 dollars. Thats 1123.
The difference between those two are 324.
So i pocketed that got more memory and a better screen.
Enjoy your new MacBook. I have the old gold colour as it was the one on clearance (preferred it to the rose gold) and it matches my iPad which I bought used. Would have loved a space gray, but I’m happy with old gold. It goes very well with the wine red case I bought.

Got the new 2017 MB today from B&H ($799). Not crazy about the gold color but, for the cheap price paid, I am not going to worry about it. Not a big deal. It came with High Sierra. Manufacture date (9/3/2018 according to Coconut Battery) I like the feel of the keyboard, as well as the small form factor. As soon as the drive is done encrypting, I am going to update to Mojave.

Yeah i'm not looking forward to gold. Mine arrives tomorrow. How can you tell the manufacturer date?
