If you can return the MacBook Air to Best Buy without any penalty, buy one now but don't open it. Wait to see if Apple announces anything better in the keynote in three days.

If Apple does release something new that you would prefer instead of the MacBook Air, return that MacBook Air to Best Buy for a full refund. If not, or you think the price difference for the new laptop is not worth it, you already have your MacBook Air and will not have to worry about being able to buy one before it is out of stock forever.

You can open and return any used MacBooks at Best Buy if you brought it in the same condition as new without any restocking fees that they abolished a while ago. Just as long it's in the 14day return window. 30 and 45 day return window, depending on your Best Buy reward status program.

Return things too many times and they will ban you from returning for 1 year.

But watch out for Best Buy charging you for “breaking a bundle” when you return a laptop...that happened to me. I technically didn’t purchase a bundle but Best Buy considered the “free” anti virus software ($0.00) you are forced to buy as a “free” digital download as part of a bundle you are breaking (also most “bundles” save you some money this one did not).....I argued with customer service at the store for 20 minutes only to still lose out on $29.99 of my refund :/ I called customer service later and told them this is something Best Buy needs to advertise more so their customers are fully aware of it. They then said they would refund me...of course I’m still waiting to see that money back.

Gotta laugh at Best Buy. They were advertising "Doorbusters" including a 2017 MBA base model for $799. Their sale started at 5 pm Thanksgiving Day. Best I could do was to get there 90 minutes later at 6:30 pm after Thanksgiving dinner and was told these "doorbusters" were all gone; no raincheck, no apology, no nothing. Staff refused to tell me how many units were actually available. Over 15 years, this typifies my multiple experiences with Best Buy. Shaking my Head...

That's how they get you in the door: tease you with some fantastic deal that can't possibly be true, then tell you when you get there that they are totally sold out. But hey, while you're here, how about you buy some other regular-priced, high-margin stuff instead? In their defense, they may have actually had an Air for $799, but I'm guessing they had only one (1) and sold it for the advertised price just so they could satisfy some kind of legal requirement. Welcome to the world of retail debauchery!!
