Why is the battery life on this thing so bad? Getting 3-4 hours max while doing basic Microsoft office.

Replaced my 2013 Macbook Air which was still getting 11-12 hours battery life.

Are you using the most current macOS update (10.14.5)? You should be getting at least roughly 7-8 hours if you’re doing basic office functions (light word, PowerPoint usage). There are a lot of variables so it is hard to pinpoint.

To give you an idea though, I have the Touchbar version of your MacBook and it gets at least 8-10 hours consistently. If you still have an issue reach out to Apple, they can check the battery out. There is a repair program for the non-Touchbar 2017 13” MacBook Pro, where the battery was expanding. It could be yours is going bad too.

Either something is running in the background and eating power or something is not right. Leave the machine running overnight, so system jobs can be finished (indexing drive etc.). Check in "Energy" in "Activity monitor.app" whoo is eating the power. If it is specific program, stop it and ideally remove it. If nothing stands up, something is not right with your system and you should talk to Apple.

Hm... ;)If you can already upgrade to 10.14.5, you are year or more ahead... I want to talk to you. What stocks should I buy which will make me money?;)

Haha! Sorry, I was busy getting coffee at Starbucks with my Delorean, I can tell you Starbucks is still here. ;) Sorry I meant 10.13.5. Someone must've switched my coffee for a decaf version.
