Hi All - Just wondering how powerful/durable the 2017 MacBook Pro 13" Speakers are. I currently installed Boom 2 (Equalizer) and am experiencing some pretty great quality but am wondering will this blow my speakers out or are these pretty durable?

Thoughts/Opinions?

Thank you!

The 2017 MBPs have improved speakers. If you look at teardowns they completely redesigned the speaker enclosure. But they are still tiny with minimal bass so you should consider something else for loud music. They will be better than the old version, but not by much.

VLC allows you to set the volume to 200% and sometimes it destroys speakers. While the device should prevent damage to itself, you are colouring outside the lines a bit. High volume can physically destroy speakers, due to how aggressively the speaker moves.

I would say as long as you don't change the max volume the equalizer setting shouldn't damage the speakers, as there doesn't seem to be a damaging sound just a damaging volume.

We have a 2014 and 2017 MBP and I think that while the new ones give you more bass and mids, they also sound much more "muddy", held back and often have booming, exaggerated bass and mids. I find it unbearable to watch some videos on the new ones, especially live videos with background noises and clapping spectators because that makes a droning, booming sound with nearly incomprehensible highs (i.e. a person giving a speech). Anyone else having the same observation?

I had to return mine to have the speakers replaced (right side speaker had distorted sound on certain frequencies). It took them 2 months to change it!
