Over the last couple of weeks my MBP has started hanging frequently with a spinning beachball. It doesn't seem to matter what I'm doing at the time, but will often happen 3/4 times in a row in quick succession and then the laptop may work fine for the rest of the day.

A few times recently I'm not even getting the beachball, the machine just seems to suddenly freeze.

What's strange is that when it does hang, the CAPS LOCK key light still responds even though nothing else does - if it was a proper crash I wouldn't have expected anything to respond?

I've done the usual resets, but is there anything else worth checking before taking in to to Apple?

Thanks!

I think it might be related to bluetooth and/or wifi. Have managed to complete a Carbon Copy Cloner backup now by turning both off.

Maybe Apple need to include a smaller beachball that pops up when the usual beachball is too busy 😉
