I want the latest MBP, the 2018 model, however I am wary of the OLED Touch Bar. OLED messes with my eyes. So I was thinking of downgrading and getting the 2017 MBP without Touch Bar. But just how big is the difference between the 2018 MBP and the 2017 MBP? Am I going to be missing out a lot by not getting the 2018 MBP?

There’s likely to be a new MacBook announced mid Sept. Certainly worth waiting for if you can as it’s unlikely to have the touch bar.

Fairly big difference between the two. The non-TB 2017 model already had a weaker CPU (and cooling) than the TB model to begin with, not to mention it had only 2 ports instead of 4. The jump from 2 to 4 cores in the 2018 model made this gap even wider.

There are rumors of a new Mac coming out in the next months (not 100% sure), but it will likely be a MBA successor/replacement, definitely not in the same power bracket as the current MBPs. What would your use case be?

Hmm, I see.

Use case? As in, what will I be using the laptop for? Well, I don't use the computer for anything except listening to music, watching videos, using social media and browsing forums and websites.

Okay. Would that be a MBP, by any chance?

No. New MacBook Pros were released last month so there is not about to be any new MBP announcement.

But there has been no new MacBook release for over a year, and that is what is expected imminently. The rumour is that it will be an entry level, low price 13", which may, or may not replace the the 12" MacBook.

Ah okay.

Sounds interesting.
