Hi everyone,

Since 2018, I have been the happy owner of a 13" MBP (i5 2.3GHz - 16GB - 512GB). I use it quite intensively as it is my only and main machine to follow my uni courses, produce content (videos on FCPX, design on Affinity...) or simply do general stuff (office and entertainment). 90% of the time (especially right now with the pandemic), it is connected to one external screen (I own two of them, BenQ 32" 4K screens but at different places so they are not connected simultaneously).

However, from time to time, I have to use my MBP "as it was designed" so unplugged. The other day, I was on a MS Teams call with my webcam turned on and an external headset connected. My battery went literally from 85% to 15% in 45 minutes (call duration). Laptop was hot and noisy although I ensured to close all of my other apps (it's true that I tend to leave them open in the background normally...that's why I went with 16GB of RAM ;)).

I know MS Teams is definitely not well-optimized for MacOS (even for Windows...) but do you consider this battery behavior as normal? Here is a screenshot from coconutBattery I took this morning:

One important thing to note is that the original battery (October 2018) was replaced in March 2019 because of a keyboard problem (the well-known one with Butterfly) so top case, including battery, was changed.

Thank you!

Thank you for your answers! So I guess it is totally normal then.
Teams is truly terrible with regard to battery usage when conferencing so I'm not surprised your battery drained so quickly. After a bit more than 2 years my battery was down to about 85% but I just had to get the keyboard replaced so it's back to full strength.
