Considering getting a mac mini 2018 i7 and pulling the RX580 out of my PC to use in an eGPU case via thunderbolt

Anyone done this and what were the pitfalls ?

Boot screen doesn't usually appear on eGPUs from Mac mini 2018 so you may need to occasionally connect the display to Thunderbolt or HDMI if you need to see something before macOS starts.

AMD Polaris GPUs won't support Metal 3 of macOS Ventura. They'll continue to use Metal 2.

This is especially a problem if you’re using FileVault. I’ve had good luck with the BlackMagic eGPUs using FileVault though.
