Tons of threads about what Specs then new 2018 IPad needs to bring Face ID p, OLED etc etc.
What few people mention is the magic of the iPad Pro, the Apple Pencil ✏️ really makes interaction of the iPad more complete without it the Pro line feels incomplete.

So what does the new Apple Pencil need ? Feels free add your own ideas.

#1. Make the Apple Pencil a Gyroscopic anywhere Mouse.(for example even if I am not in contact with the Display my movements on the desk with the new Apple Pencil 2 will corespond with a Mouse cursor on screen) This will sell tons more units. And be a viral marketing hit.
#2. Wireless inductive charging just set the Apple Pencil down and it will Wirelessly Charge.
#3. Bluetooth 5.0 to provide a faster response rate and shorten the input lag down to 10 milliseconds.
#4. Swappable tips some harder for Mouse use and some softer and rubbery for more grip when writing on screen.
    #5. Haptic feedback
#6. Built in Touch ID (which doubles as a clickable Button) when paired to the iPad Pro. We all speculate the Home Button is going away. But it would add a much needed and welcome feature to the Mouse functionality.

I really want an off switch. I’m constantly out of battery because the pencil never stays still in my bag.

I don’t know about inductive charging but I just don’t want the pencil to stick out of the iPad lightning port so precariously. But I also don’t want to have to carry around a cable and adapter. (Charging method would be less of an issue if the pencil had an off switch.)

I agree it needs different tips, particularly ones with more drag.

I think a programmable side button on the pencil would be very useful.

I wouldn’t mind it being shorter and fatter.

You can turn bluetooth off to stop the battery from being drained. You'll just have to reconnect the pencil when you want to use it again.

For the love of God, please either build a place into the iPad where the pen can be placed, or magnetize the pen and allow me to attach the pen to new iPad.

Having to reconnect the pencil is not a huge hassle but it’s also not ideal. Neither is it ideal to have to go into the iPad software controls to turn off the pencil. The other issue is it will be a pain or impossible to turn off the pencil if it ever gets separated from the iPad for whatever reason (say, you put the iPad in your bag first forgetting to turn off Bluetooth). Ideal would be a simple physical switch or button or twist on the pencil itself.

It would be nice if it charged like the watch. Wireless charging, this way you wouldn't lose your cap.

just throwing it out there, putting Touch ID in the accessory seems impractical. would the secure authentication happen inside the pencil? that seems like it would drive up costs a lot. would it be secure to send fingerprint data over bluetooth? would any sort of "go ahead and make this purchase" signal be securely sent over bluetooth? I'm generally ambivalent about faceID but I think I'd rather they just go all in with that.

also would a gyroscopic mouse function be meant for Macs? putting a cursor in iOS seems like a regression for what the device is trying to be.

I'd of course be all for lowered latency, a better charging design, and more artist friendly features though.

An on/off switch and some thumb buttons would be extremely welcome.

Ralistically the current Pencil is good enough..

The only reason Apple would do another would be to add about £60 to the price, they already made it £20 more then it was on release..

I think the Pencil is "good enough". Yes, it would be nice, if the back was an eraser, but then again who cares?
