Absolutely! Take care of it and it will be fine for many years, like you said. I also agree: you don’t even need the latest model. Hell, barring battery life issues, I reckon the 2nd gen iPad Pro is still perfect to use (4GB of RAM, compared to the 2GB my 9.7-inch iPad Pro has).

To be honest, I can’t stand using the iPad Pro 9.7 now for web browsing (I find it laggy). The 2017 iPad Pros are still okay but they reload a lot.

I don’t have heavy requirements for web browsing, my 9.7-inch iPad Pro is okay (on iOS 12). That said, it’s light years away from my iPad Air 5. You’ve stated you have a lot of tabs, so yeah, there might be a difference between, say, a 10.5-inch iPad Pro and my iPad Air 5, especially with the former on iPadOS 15 (or 16).

However, I did find that the keyboard occasionally lags on iOS 12 (it did not lag, ever, on iOS 9). My iPad Air 5 performs as I expect it to (frankly, it’s as perfect as my 9.7-inch iPad Pro was on iOS 9).

Same, the 2018 reloads just as much but is bit smoother, but only good if you don't care about reloading. Other than that it feels basically just as fast as the M1

Good choice staying on 12. I greatly regret updating the Pro 9.7 to iPadOS 13.

Lol, I'm using an M1 Pro 11 now. The 10.5 has degraded battery so I mostly use it for messing around and some night time reading.
