Looking hard @ an 11" iPP refurb from APPL @ $549. but given COVID & the resulting economic issues we'll have for some time, what's the consensus on better pricing on a 2018 iPP?

You probably won't see any better pricing from Apple directly. Your best bet is look at online retailers such as Best Buy or B&H since they're more likely to offer the 2018 IPP's at a better discount.

This was the cheapest one I could find on B&H Photo.

Well said, I think along the same lines. Look outside of the Apple Store, for sure.

If you’ve got a Micro Center near you...the’ve got great “in store only” 🦠 deal on “new“ 2018 models: For example: 2018 256gb IPP 11 inch they‘ve dropped the price down to $629. 2018 64gb IPP 11 inch for $549. The deal on the 2018 256gb model is the lowest I’ve seen on a “new” one.

I assume the refurbished ipad pros on the apple site are the best price for the 2018 models. while i'd prefer to get a new 2018 model at a cheap price, i think most stores are set for now.

Here in UK looking at £810 for 12.9 256GB WiFi only...so not much difference from brand new 2020

Micro Center actually had an ”open box” 2018 256gb 11 inch IPP (2018) for $535. I looked it over and it was perfect....not a mark or even a micro-scratch on front or back. Checked the serial number and saw that it was manufactured March 2020...so it’s not like it’s a display model that’s been on display for a year. So, I grabbed it. Since it’s “open box”, I can go ahead and use it and see how I like it...compared to my 10.5. No questions asked if I want to return it in 2 weeks they said.

That’s a great deal. I’ve bought all my previous iPads open box at microcenter too since they typically let you look at it before purchasing. Most of the time they are brand new returns. This time I got a 2018 iPad Pro refurbed from apple with an employee discount for 467 though. But you paid 60 more and got 256gb storage, which is well worth it!
