I'm still waiting for the teardown. Very sceptical that any low-level AppleCare agent would have engineering knowledge of the new machines - I'd guess they're just going off which models are eligible for the repair program.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were substantial changes, but don't think that this is good proof.

Agreed. Waiting on teardown as well as reviews. It's not a convincing proof but at least it shows us they are aware.

A tear down can’t really confirm anything. Even if it’s slighy different than gen 2 iFixit or whoever won’t be able to say 100% it was fixed because no one outside of Apple knows what the original cause of the issue was.

Of course you can't say with certainty that it will be 100% reliable, but if we saw significant internal changes I think that would be a fairly good barometer.

Obviously if it's a small change like a different alloy etc., that might not be immediately visible, so there's no guarantee. However, I'd feel more confident buying one if there were changes which were confirmed in a teardown as I doubt Apple wants a repeat of the 16/17 models.
