2018 MacBook Pro 15” too heavy for travel?

I know this is quite an old thread, but I'd say it's remarkably portable for a full sized laptop, literally comparable to a 2015 MacBook Air in size and not too much heavier. The one thing I'd be concerned about is whether you'd be allowed on the plane with it!

Au contraire in at least a couple cases:

Qantas Airways, for example, told Bloomberg that all 15-inch ‌MacBook Pro‌ models are banned from checked luggage and must remain switched off for the duration of the flight. That ban applies not only to machines with faulty batteries, but also perfectly fine ‌MacBook Pro‌ models not subject to recall.

Virgin Australia, meanwhile, has banned "all Apple MacBooks" from checked luggage, requiring customers to put their MacBooks in their carry-on luggage.

who in the HECK would every check a MacBook pro?? that's what I want to know... lol it is fine to bring a 15 on??
