I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a new MacBook Pro, probably from Best Buy, and I just noticed a new batch of 2018 MacBook Pros that have a Radeon Pro 555X GPU instead of the 560X that was released this past summer.

What did I miss? Why did Apple replace the 560X with the 555X or is this new configuration retailer specific?

Thanks!

If you look at the Apple.com and configure the 2018 models you will see the baseline 15" is with the 555X and its $100 to upgrade to 560X. Midrange and up come with the 560X. Just a little research would answer your questions.
