Hi,

I have a 2018 13-inch MacBook Pro with the latest update to macOS (10.13.6). My problem that I am seeing is that when I go to the Apple Menu and hit shutdown, the machines seems to be turned off (the display goes black and the backlight on the keyboard goes black). However, if I hit any button the keyboard at all, the computer turns right back on (I don't have to press the power button to turn on the computer).

Is this the normal behavior with the 2018 MacBook Pro's?

I have also reached out to Apple Support to get their thoughts on this.

Please let me know.

Thanks!

Edit: Apple Support says this a feature of the MacBook 2018 line: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201150#turnoff

Additionally, MacBook Pro (2018) turns on when you press any key on the keyboard or press the trackpad.

It seems that Apple, for some reason, thought that opening the screen or pressing any button will restart the device.

This is STUPID Apple!!!

It's been this way since late 2016.

Why would you press keyboard buttons or open the lid if you weren't going to turn the machine on?
